What happens if you lift weights while obese?
Asked 3 years ago
Hi, I want to exercise to reduce my obesity. Would it be a good idea for me to start by lifting weights? If so, what kind of weight lifting routine do you suggest? Thanks.

Yes, lifting weights and using complex movements can help you in losing weight due to the high energy demands associated with the exercise. Doing weight training at a higher intensity with the aim of reaching and maintaining a relatively high average heart rate throughout the session will be most effective. Coupling that with other forms of exercise such as walking, rowing or stair climbing will further burn calories and lead to weight loss.
30 to 45min of strength training with weights 3 times a week will have positive effects on your weight loss journey, as well as boost your metabolism. Healthy diet and lifestyle choices should round off the process and provide you with the best possible platform to start losing weight.
