How many calories a day should a morbidly obese person eat?
Asked 4 years ago
My brother is 300lbs, and although I'm no dietician, I've been asked to help him develop a diet plan and stick to it. How many calories should he be eating, and what would be the best way to see an obese person into a weight loss diet?

According to the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, morbidly obese individuals should consume 22 calories for every kilogram they weigh. At 300lbs (136kg), your brother needs about 2,992 calories daily based on the recommendation. Spread this between carbs, protein-dense meals, and healthy fats, and you're good to go.
