Do I have to go for counseling to treat my obesity?
Asked 3 years ago
I’ve been told by my doctor that my BMI is now in the obese range. He said the best place I should start is to go for counseling to see what my underlying psychological issues are that are making me overeat. Is there any way I can lose weight myself, or do I have to go for obesity counseling? I find it very daunting to speak to a stranger about the things I'm most ashamed about. Thank you.

While you can lose weight yourself, it's best to start with counselling. Counselling will help you understand why you're gaining weight and highlight the importance of healthy eating habits and physical activity. It will also help you set realistic goals and roll out the best plan to combat obesity.
