High glucose levels in type II diabetes can damage the blood vessels and nerves that control your heart. Over time, the damage can lead to heart disease with heart palpitations. Should the heart palpitation become frequent - or be accompanied by dizziness, chest pain, nausea, excessive sweating, and shortness of breath - you should see a doctor.
