I've started taking diuretics to help with my resistant hypertension. Should I increase my uptake of water when I take my medication?

It is usually not recommended to increase your water uptake if you are taking diuretics. Diuretic work on the kidneys to excrete water from the body in the form of urine, and in turn lower your blood pressure. Drinking more water would have the opposite effect in increasing your blood pressure. Drink as you feel thirsty, but be mindful to not drink too much. For the diuretics to help you achieve the desired effects of lowering your blood pressure, keeping your intake of water relatively normal is advised.
Try to take the medication as per your physician has advised for maximum benefits and adjust your medications accordingly. Gentle walking and a healthy balanced diet are further helpful in managing resistant hypertension. You can monitor your blood pressure at home and note any irregularities.
