My sister with type II diabetes has recently been diagnosed with hypertension. How did this happen? How does type II diabetes result in hypertension?

Type II diabetes increases the chances of developing hypertension. Excess blood glucose levels damage the blood vessels. First, the elasticity of the blood vessels decreases and afterwards, a progressive narrowing of the arteries occurs. The narrowing of the vessels impedes blood flow and leads to hypertension.
