When is mixed insulin most effective at managing type 2 diabetes?
Asked 3 years ago
My father has type 2 diabetes and has been on ongoing treatment to control his blood sugar levels to avoid related complications. He was recently told that he might have to start taking insulin injections because the oral medication is not as effective anymore. What time of the day is the best time to inject?

The time to inject your insulin depends on the type of insulin used. For example, basal insulin works best at night, just before bedtime. Contrarily, regular insulin is best taken 30 minutes before eating. It may be best to follow the instruction of the healthcare provider who suggested he start taking insulin injections.
