Does taking AGIs and insulin increase the risk of hypertension?
Asked 3 years ago
My doctor prescribed me alpha-glucosidase inhibitors (AGIs) to control my type 2 diabetes. This is because my blood glucose tends to spike after meals. Would taking injectable insulin with my inhibitors cause me to develop hypertension?

AGIs are known to actually help reduce one's blood pressure and show improvement in cardiovascular health. Any impact on blood pressure from the insulin is likely negated through the use of AGIs. It is important to note that using both insulin and AGIs should be determined and prescribed by your doctor.
