Can drinking a lot of water lower blood pressure in diabetes?
Asked 3 years ago
My mom was recently diagnosed with diabetes. The whole family is getting behind her to try and help her handle her increasingly high blood pressure. I once heard someone say that drinking a lot of water helped them lower their blood pressure. Is this true as well for people with diabetes? Thanks!

Yes, drinking water has an astounding effect on blood pressure, especially in diabetes patients. Research suggests that low daily total water intake increases the risk of hyperglycemia. However, the level of evidence is low. Don't let this stop you from recommending that your mum drink more water.
