What helps back pain from obesity?

Asked 3 years ago

Hi, I'm definitely not a slim person. I guess I'm obese, and I'm rather embarrassed about it. I've also started getting back pains. Could it be because I'm obese? Will losing weight make my back hurt less? How do obese people strengthen their backs? Thank you in advance.

It very well could be the increased strain placed on the spine due to increased weight it may need to support everyday that is causing your back-pain. The increased weight placed on the back has been documented to be a risk factor for developing pain and other conditions arising from the back, like sciatica pain.

Attempting to follow a diet and exercise regiment that is both healthy and sustainable to try to lose some of the weight that could be adding to back pain. Starting with gradual daily exercise at an intensity that you can manage will be a great starting point. Alongside that, a healthy and well-balanced diet with less sugar and carbohydrates will further contribute to weight loss. With less weight and strain placed on your body and back, you'll be able to move around in a hassle-free and effortless manner. As one ages, the body loses its strength and these challenges could get progressively worse and lead to disability in severe cases. It can be prevented before getting to this stage through healthy lifestyle choices.
