What drinks should I avoid with type II hypertensive diabetes?
Asked 3 years ago
I used to have a smoothie every morning for my breakfast, coffee during the day, and a couple of glasses of wine during the week before my type II hypertensive diabetes diagnosis. Are these drinks I should avoid now? Are there any other drinks I need to cut out? Thanks!

With diabetes, you should cut out sugar-sweetened beverages, fruity yoghurt, flavoured coffee drinks, soda, wine, and fruit juice. Sugar is the common denominator across all types of drinks. Instead, you can take alternatives with less sugar content. For example, white wine, plain yoghurt, or plain coffee are better for people with diabetes.
