What can happen to you if you have diabetes and hypertension?
Asked 3 years ago
My father has diabetes and hypertension. He didn't tell the family about his diagnosis until about a week ago. I've been worried sick about him ever since. I'm really scared about how badly his health could decline from both conditions. Could something really bad happen to him since he has both diabetes and hypertension?

While having both diabetes and hypertension increases his risk of developing stroke and heart attack later in life, he hasn't received a death sentence. Instead of worrying about him, you should work with him to ensure he adheres to his medications, maintains a healthy weight and diet, and stays fit, as these play significant roles.
