What are the underlying causes of resistant hypertension?

I have diabetes and I'm scared I could develop resistant hypertension. What are the underlying causes of resistant hypertension?

Only twenty per cent of people with hypertension end up with resistant hypertension. Of that number, only 25% of people with resistant hypertension have an identifiable cause. These causes include sleep apnea, kidney failure, hormonal disorders, aorta coarctation, neuroendocrine diseases, and renal artery stenosis.
