My mom is 65 and wants to start taking beta blockers to reduce her blood pressure. What age group is at risk when taking beta blockers?

Research suggests that hypertensive patients over 60 years are at risk when taking beta blockers.
Except in cases of heart failure and ischemic heart diseases, physiologic changes like low cardiac output, bradycardia, high total peripheral resistance, and reduced renal blood flow render the beta-blocker unnecessary.
