Should I be following a specific diet for diabetes and hypertension?

Asked 3 years ago

There are so many different diets that people can follow these days- Vegan, banting, keto, vegetarian, etc. But are any of these diets safe to follow if you have diabetes and hypertension? Is there any other specific diet I can follow if I have these diagnoses?

Many of the diets you mentioned form part of weight loss programs. What is recommended for patients with diabetes and hypertension is the DASH diet. It is nutritious, balanced, and sustainable in the long run. You may want to work with your dietician to plan out one for your use.
