Is there a diabetic-and-hypertension-friendly diet plan?

Asked 3 years ago

I never really had to think about my diet before I was diagnosed with diabetes and hypertension. But now? Now I have to consider all the sugar content and carbohydrates and all that stuff. Please can someone enlighten me- Is there a diabetic-and hypertension-friendly diet plan?

There are various eating plans that cater to people with diabetes and hypertension. Finding one that suits you and is in line with your preference for food is a good starting point. Understanding the types of foods that you should avoid is helpful in not slowing down the progression of the two conditions. Eating a variety of healthy foods and steering away from processed foods will be further beneficial. It’s important to follow recommendations set out by the medical professional regarding usage of medication to effectively and safely manage the conditions. Consulting with a dietician regarding food choices and food groups can be extremely helpful in understanding what you should or shouldn’t eat. There isn’t an eating plan that we could suggest, and rather suggest finding an eating plan that suits your food preferences. Making a list of food groups that are beneficial to eat will also be helpful. Reducing intake of sugars, salt and processed foods is crucial. Exercise and drinking enough water will be beneficial to your health.
