If I have diabetes will I also have hypertension?
Asked 3 years ago
I have Type 1 diabetes. My mom and grandmother have the same condition and both of them have hypertension too. I haven't experienced any symptoms of hypertension yet, but I'm scared that I could potentially get it. If I have diabetes, will I also have hypertension?

The chances are higher that you may develop hypertension because you already have diabetes. However, it is just a chance, and you can limit the risks by keeping your diabetes under control, maintaining a healthy diet and weight, staying active, and exercising regularly. Don't resign to fate when it's in your hands.
