Does too little insulin cause hypertension?
Asked 3 years ago
I have type 2 diabetes which means that my body resists insulin. I know that diabetes, in general, can cause hypertension, but is this also the case when your body produces too little insulin? Thanks!

Except you are obese, having type 2 diabetes does not mean you have insulin resistance. When your body produces too little insulin, the term is impaired insulin secretion. While insulin resistance will cause hypertension directly, impaired insulin secretion will only set in motion other physiological processes that may lead to hypertension.
