Does insulin resistance cause hypertension?
Asked 3 years ago
I am 14 years old and I have type 1 diabetes. Basically, my body attacks my insulin-producing cells and I have really high blood sugar levels all the time. Can my type 1 diabetes cause hypertension? I really hope the answer is no, but please can someone tell me if it does?

You don't have to be worried about your type 1 diabetes resulting in hypertension. While type 1 diabetes can cause hypertension, it doesn't have a causal relationship meaning it is not automatic. If you can successfully manage your diabetes, you'll invariably have reduced your risk of developing hypertension.
