Does insulin cause the heart to flutter immediately after injection?

Asked 3 years ago

I’ve just started using insulin to help manage my diabetes symptoms and help control my glucose levels. I have type 2 diabetes and the oral medication that I’ve been taking over the years is not as effective as it used to be. I get these palpitations after injecting and I don’t know if it is normal.

Many people experience these palpitations when starting to use insulin injections. Although we know it commonly occurs, it has not been established exactly why. It may be due to anxiety of injecting oneself, but could also be in response to the sugar levels dropping once the insulin takes effect. Using a device to monitor your blood glucose levels throughout the day is a helpful way to determine whether the medication is effective or not.
