Can type II diabetes and hyperglycemia cause hypertension?

Asked 3 years ago

My type II diabetes means I also have hyperglycemia. Can this result in hypertension?

Your hyperglycemia will lead to hypertension if you can't bring your blood glucose levels under control over time. The hyperglycemia will cause the deposition of glucose in the blood vessels causing the vessels to narrow down. The progressive narrowing of the arteries -otherwise known as atherosclerosis- leads to hypertension.
