Can insulin injection cause heart failure if I have insulin sensitivity?
Asked 3 years ago
I’ve transitioned to using insulin to help control my diabetes and have been experiencing heart flutters and a fast heartbeat that isn’t caused by physical activity. I also have low insulin sensitivity. I'm worried that these symptoms are warning signs of imminent heart failure.

Many patients experience an increase in heart rate and flutters shortly after injecting with insulin. Although the cause is not established, it may be associated with the drop in sugar levels in response to the insulin. It may also be due to anxiety of having to inject oneself. Insulin injections are not associated with causing heart failure. If the symptoms persist or you experience any other features suggestive of heart failure, don't hesitate to contact your doctor.
