Can insulin induce a stroke if a patient has atherosclerosis?
Asked 3 years ago
I sometimes get fluttering in my chest after taking my insulin shot. This worries me because the doctor recently diagnosed me with atherosclerosis, even though I have managed my diabetes. I learned that flutters are one of the signs of a stroke. Should I be concerned?

The fluttering in the chest is frequently noted by insulin users and may be associated with the decrease in sugar levels when you inject the insulin or anxiety associated with injecting oneself. It is very unlikely to induce a stroke. In fact, managing your sugar levels optimally will help reduce your risk of stroke and it is important to co-manage it with treatment for atherosclerosis. If symptoms continue to worry you, don't hesitate to consult your doctor.
