Can I drink alcohol if I have type II diabetes and hypertension?

I love enjoying a cocktail or two with my girlfriends, but now I have type II diabetes and hypertension. Can I still drink alcohol despite my diagnosis?

You can still drink alcohol while living with diabetes. The American Diabetes Association recommends one or two cocktails to improve blood sugar management and insulin sensitivity. Asides from this, alcohol can also interact with some diabetes medications. Thus, while you can take alcohol with diabetes, do so with moderation and caution.
