After my last appointment, my doctor told me my blood sugar levels are high. Could this potentially cause high blood pressure?

There is a direct relationship between high blood sugar and high blood pressure in type II diabetes. However, it is not a causal relationship. High blood sugar causes sugar deposition in arterial walls, reducing the area for blood flow. Consequently, the heart has to pump faster, leading to high blood pressure.
