Can drinking coffee or caffeinated drinks increase blood pressure immediately?

Asked 3 years ago

I was recently told by my doctor that I have hypertension and high blood pressure. Does drinking coffee or caffeinated drinks raise blood pressure immediately?

Coffee or caffeinated drinks will raise blood pressure within 30 minutes to one hour of taking them. That's how long it takes for caffeine to reach optimum levels in the bloodstream. You can take your blood pressure reading within that time frame to determine how sensitive you are to caffeine.
