Are blood sugar and blood pressure related?

Asked 3 years ago

I have high blood sugar because I have Type 1 diabetes. I often have blurred vision, increased hunger and thirst, fatigue, and an upset tummy. I want to know if blood sugar and blood pressure are related? If I have high blood sugar, does this mean that I will have high blood pressure and hypertension?

There's a direct relationship between high blood glucose levels and high blood pressure. Consistently high blood sugar level will increase your chances of developing high blood pressure. However, if you can get your diabetes under control, you can also reduce the risk factors for hypertension.
