Will taking metformin to reduce the risk of developing pancreatic cancer?
Asked 3 years ago
My daughter has type 2 diabetes mellitus and needs to manage her high blood sugar levels. She has to improve her hyperglycemia to avoid further issues. I’m worried she may be at risk of cancer and other serious chronic diseases. If she takes metformin regularly, will that reduce her chances of being at risk of diabetic complications?

At least one study suggests that metformin usage reduces the risk of pancreatic cancer in females. It will also reduce any chances of developing a diabetic complication. If your doctor prescribed metformin for you, you should not worry so much about unwanted side effects.
