Will metformin improve glucose tolerance if I have hyperglycemia?
Asked 3 years ago
I have low blood sugar. I sometimes have blurred vision and get very fatigued at the worst times. I read that the symptoms could get serious if I don’t find a way to control them. Is it a good idea to take metformin?

Yes, metformin may be a drug of choice in controlling your hypoglycemia. Studies have shown that long-term treatment of hyperglycemia with metformin improves glucose tolerance, except in people with the SHORT syndrome. Before concluding on the use of metformin, you should seek the opinion of your medical provider.
