Asked 3 years ago
I am doing research on gestational diabetes. Is there a specific age range, race, or population that is most at risk for gestational diabetes?

The risks factors for gestational diabetes. This include:
- having low physical activity
- Having a parent with diabetes
- Being overweight
- Having prediabetes before falling pregnant
- It has been noted in research that some races or ethnicities have been found to be prone to developing gestational diabetes. These include Hispanic, Asian American, American Indian and black.
Exercise and a healthy, balanced diet can lower your risk of developing gestational diabetes. Uncontrolled weight during pregnancy can considerably raise your risk of gestational diabetes. With routine exercise and dietary awareness, this can be fairly well managed throughout your pregnancy. It is, however, important to exercise safely during the duration of your pregnancy.
