Asked 3 years ago
My father has been diagnosed with Latent Autoimmune Diabetes. I am trying to understand the diagnosis so I can help him as much as possible. What exactly are the causes of Latent Autoimmune Diabetes? Thank you in advance!

LADA occurs when the body develops autoantibodies against insulin and pancreatic cells; and enzymes involved in pancreatic functions. Antibodies involved in the pancreas and its functioning will affect the body's response to blood sugar. Genetic history of autoimmune disorders may also contribute to the condition.
