Epidemiological data shows LADA is the most frequent form of adult autoimmune diabetes. Despite common misdiagnosis of the condition, LADA accounts for about 2% to 12% of all adult diabetes cases. According to the UK Prospective Diabetes Study, it may account for up to 25% of all diabetes cases diagnosed in people below 35 years.
