Does having hypertension mean I'm at risk of insulin resistance?
Asked 3 years ago
When I was pregnant with my daughter, I had been diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I later developed hypertension a few years after giving birth. The physician did say there was a higher risk of complications even after. I’m worried that I might develop insulin resistance and be at risk of diabetes again.

Hypertension can predispose you to developing insulin-resistant diabetes and it is therefore important to reduce your risk by having good control over your hypertension and implementing healthy lifestyle changes, including exercise and a healthy diet. It is a good idea to check your sugars when you have your follow-up appointments with your doctor. You can make use of a glucose monitoring kit, sold by Dario, to monitor your blood glucose levels throughout the day.
