Can I reverse hyperinsulinemia if I take OADs with insulin?
Asked 4 years ago
I found out I had hyperinsulinemia when I went for a blood drug screen test. I was told that this condition puts me at risk of developing diabetes. Do oral antidiabetic drugs (OADs) if combined with injectable insulin help reduce or reverse hyperinsulinemia?

As is often the case, managing hyperinsulinemia depends on the cause. There's a need for care because it may be caused by insulin resistance. Consequently, what is recommended for the reversal of hyperinsulinemia is not just medication. Recommended treatment includes dietary changes, weight loss, exercise, and possibly, surgery.
